Reading these pages means accepting the terms set out below. They are short because this publication does one thing: it fights boss encounters, writes down what happened, and publishes an argument about whether the result was worth the hours.
An independent desk covering computer games through their boss encounters. Every game discussed here is bought at retail with our own funds, as described in the method. Nobody pays for coverage, nobody sees a review before it publishes, and no arrangement exists with any studio or platform that could affect a score.
Frame counts, attempt totals, arena dimensions and named-cause percentages describe what happened on our hardware, on the build we bought, at the moment we played it. Games are patched, hardware differs, and your own results will differ from ours. Treat every number here as evidence for an argument rather than a specification you can rely on.
Game titles, studio names and platform names appear here for identification and criticism only. Their use implies no endorsement, affiliation or approval in either direction, and all such names remain the property of whoever owns them.
Every illustration on this site was produced for this publication. None is a screen capture of a commercial product, and none should be read as depicting a real game's visual output. They exist to give an article a face, not to document anything.
Quote us. Short extracts for review, commentary, teaching or discussion are welcome provided the publication is named and, online, linked. What we ask you not to do is republish a full article, rebuild the archive elsewhere, or present our figures as your own measurements — the numbers are only useful if their provenance travels with them.
These are static pages and they may nonetheless be unavailable, incomplete or briefly wrong during a revision. No promise of uptime, accuracy or continued existence is made, and articles may be corrected, revised or withdrawn as our sample grows or as a patch invalidates an audit.
To the extent the law permits, we accept no liability for any loss arising from a decision taken on the basis of anything published here, including purchases made or avoided. If you need certainty about whether a game suits you, the only reliable method is to play it.
This page may be amended. The version in front of you is the version that applies to your visit, and material changes will be evident from the text rather than announced elsewhere.
